Hotel Petersburg

Scope of Work:

With a knowledge of historic renovations, Retro worked closely with ownership to complete the extensive renovation of Hotel Petersburg which opened in December 2024.

In addition to complete management, our team was charged with facilitating and developing relationships with key regional stakeholders to bring awareness to the development project.

Project Overview:

Located in the heart of Old Towne Petersburg, Hotel Petersburg is the result of a visionary redevelopment that has revitalized a historic landmark. Closed since 1969 after a fire destroyed its upper floors, the hotel has undergone a $13.5 million transformation, restoring its grandeur while introducing modern amenities. Now an upscale boutique destination, it features 64 elegantly designed rooms, street-level dining, both a rooftop bar and a speakeasy-inspired lounge, banquet facilities, and an outdoor courtyard. As a teaching hotel for Virginia State University, it serves as both a place of learning and a cornerstone of the community. Honoring its architectural heritage, Hotel Petersburg has meticulously preserved original design elements such as extensive marble accents, intricate plasterwork, and coffered ceilings, seamlessly blending historic character with contemporary luxury.
